Away With The Fairies

Hi Lovelies,

Just popping in with a card I've made which was inspired by a challenge over at The Paper Shelter's challenge blog called Away with the fairies. Its my beautiful wee niece Aliyah's 4th birthday coming up, although there's still a few weeks to wait yet but I'm so chuffed with myself for actually getting it done in plenty of time which really does make a change because i'm usually panicking trying to create something the night before. I just love this adorable little fairy called A Little Bit Grumpy which I originally purchased as soon as it was released as it reminded me so much of my youngest daughter when she was little, saying that having just turned 13 i'm sure I have plenty more years of her being a stroppy teenager to come.

Anyway I digress, here's my card in the hopes that I will just catch the challenge before it closes...

The papers have all come from my stash most of which being bits and snippets that came as freebies from papercrafting magazines, except the yellow and white paper in the background which was from a Born To Shop Creative Papercraft Kit that was purchased from Docrafts some time ago. The flowers used were a gift from a friend that have been in my stash for a wee while but were originally purchased from WOC. Along with the beady flowers in the corners, gems and piece of ribbon that again was an off-cut, the bunting was hand cut from a bit left over from the paper that was used at the bottom of the layer directly beneath 'lil miss grumpy'. I will  be adding this to pixies crafty workshop where she holds a challenge in her 'playground' every week that is always to use 'Snippets' to which I've used a few in making this card.

The wee fairy was coloured with the following of my beloved Spectrum Noir alcohol pens -
GB2, GB8, GB10, EB7, CG2, CG3, JG1, CT1, LY2, LY3, FS2, FS3, FS8 and True Black

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges :-

Thanks for stopping by and thank you so very much for all of your kind comments on my posts, I read and appreciate each and every one.

I'm Still Here... At least I Think I Am

My goodness, where has the past few months gone? I can't believe its been so long since I last posted, although I did actually do a post at the beginning of the year but for some strange reason it didn't appear on here or in the draft section so Blogger must have eaten it I think lol.
Since my last post my health as been a little erratic and driving me batty but I have managed to get some crafting in here and there and would like to share a card that was made for my mums birthday using some of my favourite crafty items...

The card base is Adorable Scorable available from Hunkydory

The topper is also from Hunkydory from the Decadent Days range, as is the printed background behind the image. The flowers which I love, are from iamroses.com. (Sorry I'm unsure of the exact item numbers for the flowers used because I stupidly threw away the packaging when I sorted through them on arrival and put them all together in the box that I store them in but they have a large range of beautiful blossoms to choose from so be sure to have a look).

Using a piece of acetate cut slightly larger than the size of the card which is A5 to create a domed effect which was then tied using a white ribbon from my stash that was laced through eyelets that I punched into the adorable scorable. I added a few adhesive pearls and a sentiment from the topper pack to the front for extra detail to the outside of the card.

After the front was created I added an basic A5 card base, using a plain white heavyweight cardstock from The Papermill, lined with a pale green paper insert to the back giving me a space to add a personal message.

With the dimension of the card obviously an envelope wasn't going to be any good so I also created a box using my Crafter's Companion Ultimate Pro. I used the same backing card as the inside of the front of the card and silver mirri card, along with more of the ribbon, pearls and also some silver peel-offs from the Anita's range available from Docrafts to make it 'look pretty'.

I love how this card turned out and have used this style of card again already which I will hopefully get to share here another time.

I am sharing this on the Floral Fantasies blog as Brenda is celebrating her 5th Blogiversary and is asking her friends to share a project using their favourite craft items which in my case are pretty much everything that has been used in this creation :)
